To whom did Baba give the responsibility?

Baba never appointed a single successor as "Guru". He said: "He was born Guru. He had no Guru... never to be replaced by any other".

Instead, He gave responsibility in 3 ways:

1. To the Organisation - Ananda Marga Pracaraka Samgha: Founded in 1955 "for self-realization and the service of humanity". The entire Samgha carries the mission forward.

2. To the Acaryas: Baba created the monastic order in 1961. Acaryas are trained to initiate, teach meditation, and run service projects. They are responsible for preserving the teachings and practices exactly as given.

3. To all Margiis: At his direction, "all personal instruction in these practices must always be provided free of charge". Every Margii who sincerely follows 16 Points is responsible to practice and propagate. Baba said the motto is Ātmamokśārthaṃ jagaddhitāya ca - liberation of self and service to all.
